Maladjusted Longboarders President's Report 2001
Firstly, I would like to wish club members and their families all the best for the Christmas Season.
Well, another year has flown by again and what a very interesting year it's been. On the club scene there have been a few faces missing at contests due to health reasons, work and family commitments. Hopefully next season will see everyone healed up, cashed up and calmed down enough to see a bigger turn out at the contests. The controversy surrounding this year's State Titles and Interclub will also be talked about for quite a while, interestingly enough the group who pushed for three rounds this year on the basis that more people would enter, especially their own members, were in fact almost conspicuous by their absence, and when you consider that Maladjusted members won four of the divisions and also minor placing in three divisions as wellt just proves that we have quality surfers.
Congratulations to Matt and Jay who took out first and third respectively in the Juniors. The future looks good for S.A. longboarding! The Interclub was a farce again with the odds being stacked against the smaller clubs and backdoor deals done without consultation with the other clubs. Hopefully with the appointment of Mark Hood from South O' the Port as the new longboard rep things will change for the better.
The annual fun day with South O' the Port was once again a huge success and has been included in the 2002 calender. Fees this year are to remain the same as last year but it helps the club heaps if you actually pay. Club members who ventured over to WA with the State Team were treated to big waves, some even coming back with the scars to prove it.
Congratulations to Cheryl and Mike on their wedding earlier this year and a big note of thanks to Cheryl who took over the role of club secretary. Thank you John for contest reports and to members who helped to organise and judge the contests throughout the year. And finally a big thankyou to the Fletchers for the use of their home for the Fun Day presentation and this year's Christmas show and BBQ. I look forward to seeing you in the new year and I believe that 2002 will be successful for our club.
Thank you
